Race Review: The Miami Half Marathon
This was my 11th year running this race (my 7th time running the half marathon)...and I still have to say that this is by far my favorite half! I encourage everyone to run this race at least once. This was my first ever half marathon back in 2010 and my first marathon back in 2015.
The course is so scenic and is a lovely tour of Miami Beach! I love starting on the MacArthur Causeway running past the cruise ships while it is still dark out. Running along Ocean Drive as the sun starts to rise is pretty epic and the energy at mile 11 as you approach downtown is always the best!
This past year's race was extra special for me as I ran the race 9 weeks postpartum. This was my first race as a wife and new mommy, so I dedicated my race to my husband and my son! Crossing that finish line was such an exhilarating feeling!
There was a lot of prep that went into this race...not only was I training for the distance but I also had to put together a pumping plan. Luckily my run group has a tent every year, so I was able to pump right before the start. It isn't easy, but us runners find a way!
It was so great meeting up with some of my fellow BibRavers after the race in the VIP lounge!
I can't wait for next year's race...I am still deciding whether or not I run the marathon. ;)
