Racing While Marathon Tapering


Less than 2 weeks until I run the Berlin Marathon...so what better way to taper than with a half marathon and a 10K?

After months of training, the Berlin Marathon is less than 2 weeks away! This was by far the most intense training cycle I have ever done...and I have to say, I loved every second of it...well maybe not every second, but I really feel like no matter what happens come race day I am so incredibly proud of what I accomplished these past 4 months - especially during the summer in Miami!

My taper started after my last long run of 21 miles a little over a week ago. I am currently traveling for work and thought it would be fun to find some local races for this past weekend's long run of 13 miles and this upcoming weekend's last long run of 8 miles. I found a beautiful half marathon in San Jose this past Sunday and what looks to be a fun10K in San Francisco this coming Sunday...I plan to run a few miles before/after the race, so don't worry I'll get in my 8.

I took some time off from racing during this training cycle - I wanted to keep the focus on properly training, but with the thumbs up from my coach I signed up for just these two. ;)

I surprised myself and PR'd during the Race to the End of Summer Half Marathon, which was pretty encouraging. The weather couldn't have been more perfect and although the race was small, the local running community and course support was amazing!

Next up is the Giant Race in San Francisco. I am pumped to run this one as part of the #BibRavePro team! The course looks great and I hear it sells out every year, so that must mean something?! If you are in the area, use code RACESF2018 - for $10 off the Half, 10K or 5K!
